Dr. Opoku-Akoto is a medical practitioner with over 22 years of experience in General Medicine and Family Practice and a Specialist in Anaesthesia (Part 1 WACS). A graduate of UGMS, she is a Member of the West Africa College of Surgeons. Her distinguished career spans appointments at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (Ghana), King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, Hamilton Medical Centre, and Bermuda Healthcare Services.
Currently, Dr. Opoku-Akoto serves as the CEO of Accra Medical Centre, where she provides:
- strategic leadership, oversees clinical and operational excellence, and drives the delivery of high-quality healthcare services across the institution.
- Under her leadership, AMC has strengthened its patient-centered approach, expanded specialty services, and enhanced quality and safety standards throughout the facility.
Her Clinical practice involves:
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illnesses as part of primary prevention, Instituting of appropriate management and interpretation of results
- Developing Care Plans with patients with chronic illnesses such as diabetes and hypertension, as a means to ensure the best long-term outcome for patients and enhance compliance
- Providing counselling and health education to patients as appropriate
- Referring patients to the tertiary centers or specialist as appropriate
- Complying with the relevant practice/ policy guidelines laid out by the governing health authority
